N6JWT Ham Radio Rocks!
Many thanks for visiting my page.
My journey into Amateur Radio began in Santa Barbara, CA, when my boss, John, KA6JWK, and I were driving down the highway and we witnessed a motorcycle accident. He whipped out his HT (handie-talkie) radio and dialed some numbers on the keypad and in an instant was talking on the phone to emergency dispatch. This was back in the 1980's, before cell phones, so I was AMAZED, and intrigued, by HAM radio.
A couple of years later, following the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake, I was convinced I needed some form of communication for when the telephone system went down, thus I studied for my HAM license and got my ticket in 1990. John's use of autopatch + my general interest in science, physics, and electronics education, led me to pursue a license. From that point onward I was hooked on technology and HAM!
What about you? I hope to meet you on the air!
